Temple University Ambler students and faculty have been hard at work for months developing “After the Blast: Recollecting Roots and Resources at Hopewell Furnace” for the Philadelphia Flower Show, which will explore the rich industrial history of Pennsylvania through Hopewell Furnace.
The historical site will be brought roaring back to life with a combination of built structures — such as a green roof and root cellar — and vibrant plants that will evoke the fires of the iron ore furnace.
Supporting the Landscape and Horticulture Department for the first time this year will be students from Temple’s ProRanger Philadelphia program, who will assist visitors at the exhibit.
Presented by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the theme of the 2016 Philadelphia Flower Show is “Explore America: 100 Years of the National Park Service.”
