Join Pi Alpha Xi and the Temple Contemplative Meditation Club as they present Olga Tzogas and “The Marvelous and Diverse World of Mushrooms and Fungi.”
Mushrooms and their underground network of cells, called mycelium, are the unsung hero often missing from our studies, culture and horticulture practices. Learn the basics to mushroom biology, ecology and tips for recognizing them in the field. Explore different ways to grow mushrooms for food and medicine.
Take home skills to get started incorporating mushrooms in your life. Olga Tzogas is the owner and operator of Smugtown Mushrooms in Rochester, NY, which she opened five years ago to meet the need for mushrooms and growing supplies in her area, particularly during cold winters. Tzogas teaches workshops throughout the region about wild mushroom identification, biology, ecology and mushroom cultivation.
