About the Lecturer
John Smagula J.D., M.S. in Ed., is the Executive Director for Temple University’s Greater China Office. In addition, he is Director of Asian Programs and Associate Professor, China Rule-of-Law Program, at Temple University School of Law, where he directs and teaches for the Tsinghua-Temple Master of Laws (LL.M.) program. He is a leading expert in developing and teaching legal education programs for Chinese government officials and commercial lawyers.
John has full professional proficiency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese, and he regularly facilitates and interprets at official meetings. John has long studied the Chinese language and culture, having traveled to each province in China and taken on volunteer projects in remote areas. He is also a Certified Tea Specialist both in China and the United States, and is frequently invited to give talks on Chinese tea and tea culture.
