At 17 Malala Yousefzai became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in history. The Taliban fighter who shot her in the head could not silence her. Malala remains an indefatigable advocate for the education of young girls.
Beginning her crusade at the age of 11, Malala has stood firm and has fought to have her voice heard, from the Taliban-controlled regions of Afghanistan to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. She has taken her message abroad to communities where girls are disenfranchised, speaking to everyone from the girls themselves to presidents. She is a profoundly inspiring force of nature.
Her new documentary, He Named Me Malala, looks not only at her work but at her relationship to her family and the desire that we reach for #BooksNotBullets.
