30th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall: A Film Evening

    College of Liberal Arts

This film evening will include brief student presentations about the Berlin Wall and how it has been commemorated. Presentations are to be followed by a screening of the film Gundermann (dir. Andreas Dresen, 2018), a biopic about Gerhard Gundermann, an East German singer-songwriter and excavator operator at a coal mine. Led by his ideals, Gundermann collaborates with the Stasi and quarrels with the SED (Socialist Unity Party), but has to come to terms with his idealism and its consequences for others in the unified German state. Refreshments will be provided.
