Join us as we proudly celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection at Temple University. This milestone honors Charles L. Blockson, whose dedication to preserving African and African American history has created a treasure trove of cultural heritage for future generations. As former Temple University President Peter Liacouras aptly noted, "Your move here was our proudest moment at Temple... Generations from now, our descendants will thank you."
This milestone not only recognizes Mr. Blockson's remarkable achievements—such as designating the Underground Railroad as a national treasure and creating the largest state historical marker project documenting African American history—but also celebrates the invaluable collection itself, which houses over 700,000 artifacts that tell the rich stories of people of African descent. Join us in honoring Charles L. Blockson's contributions as an author, bibliophile, historian, collector, and athlete, and help us ensure that his mission of preserving and disseminating these vital histories continues to inspire future generations.
