Robert Vitalis will discuss his recent book, White World Order, Black Power Politics: The Birth of American International Relations. It is a study of the foundations of the discipline in the US, focused on white racial hegemony and American imperial expansion, as well as the forgotten scholars of the “Howard School of International Relations” who challenged the racism that propelled the academy and the US state into the twentieth century. Vitalis teaches political science at the University of Pennsylvania. He received the 1916 Sussex International Theory Prize for White World Order. Copies of Dr. Vitalis' book will be available for purchase and signing.
