After Hours: Experiments Firing Ceramics Using Hot Glass

Tyler School of Art and Architecture

Glassblower Andrew Mahaffie and ceramics artist Donte Moore, both studio technicians at Tyler, will discuss and demonstrate experimental processes exploring the possibilities of firing ceramics using hot glass as a "kiln."

The planned processes include a modified Saggar using hot glass and natural materials to achieve surface detail on ceramic pieces and experiments with firing freshly thrown ceramics straight off of the wheel.  The demonstration will include some basic wheel throwing and glass blowing techniques. All faculty, students, and staff are invited to attend.

This event is made possible by the General Activities Fund (GAF)
