Looking for something a little different to grow on your windowsill or in your garden? Don’t feel like shelling out big bucks on a plant you might end up killing? Want to share a freshly picked fruit with your neighbor they’ve never tasted before? Maybe you’d like to grow a fruit that you remember from your childhood. Look no further than your grocery store’s produce section!
Join Tyler School of Art and Architecture Greenhouse Education and Research Complex Manager Ben Snyder on Wednesday, May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., as he discusses some of the tips and tricks to successfully germinate and care for edible tropical plants that you can grow from grocery store fruits and herbs, as well as which ones have the best chance of giving you a harvest. Snyder will lead a hands-on demonstration, and you’ll leave with something new to grow at home. A walk through the greenhouse and a visit to some of the unique edible plants growing in the Arboretum gardens will be included.
