Horticulture hikes are horticulture intensive tours with Arboretum Director Kathy Salisbury and Tyler School of Art and Architecture Greenhouse Education and Research Complex Manager Benjamin Snyder. A theme will be chosen each month. Participants will explore plant identification, use and culture, and more. Think scientific names, distinctive traits, phenology, seasonal interest, distinguishing look alike plants and practicing using various resources for identification.
Seasonal Director Walks will be held on (Spring) Friday, April 7, (Summer) Friday, July 21, and (Autumn) Friday, October 20.
During these outdoor explorations, the Arboretum will discuss ongoing projects, the history of the campus and gardens, and upcoming events while visitors explore the gardens seeing what is in bloom or interesting at the time. The Arboretum may focus on a theme such as pollinators or fragrance and talk about the gardens in general.
