Everyone deserves to have a safe holiday season. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and members of area law enforcement will join together on November 21 at Temple University Ambler to announce regional impaired-driving enforcement as part of “Operation Safe Holiday,” a campaign encouraging safe driving through the holiday season.
In addition to discussing the use of sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and regular traffic safety patrols to crack down on motorists who are driving while impaired, representatives at the kickoff will have “alcohol impaired goggles” available for students and staff to see what it is like drive impaired.
The Pennsylvania State Police and hundreds of municipal police departments statewide partner with PennDOT during Operation Safe Holiday to increase traffic safety enforcement through the New Year’s holiday. The operations are part of the Pennsylvania High Visibility Enforcement Program.
PennDOT encourages motorists to always plan ahead by either designating a sober driver or arranging for alternate transportation. To learn more about PennDOT’s efforts to prevent impaired driving or other safety initiatives, visit www.penndot.gov/safety.
