Below 100. It’s not a temperature or a score or a population point. Below 100 marks a goal law enforcement has been striving for since 1943, the last year that less than 100 line of duty deaths were recorded in the United States.
On March 3, the Temple University Law Enforcement Academy will host Below 100, a presentation by Tom Dirlam, an Inspector at the Michigan Department of State Police. Below 100 has developed a philosophy that officers and law enforcement supervisors need to take individual and group responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.
The Below 100 program will highlight five tenets that if followed could save lives.
The morning session — 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. — has been developed for all members of law enforcement, including Temple’s own Municipal Police Academy and Seasonal Law Enforcement Academy, a key component in the ProRanger Philadelphia program.
The afternoon session — 1 to 5 p.m. — is designed for individuals interested in teaching the Below 100 program to other members of law enforcement. Training candidates must attend both sessions.
