America's Dream Palace: U.S. Foreign Policy and Middle East Expertise from Wilson to Trump

    Speaker: Osamah Khalil, Assistant Professor of History, The Maxwell School, Syracuse University

    Based on his recent book, America's Dream Palace: The Rise of the U.S. National Security State and Middle East Expertise, 1902-2012, Professor Khalil will explore the relationship between academic research and government policy - their interactionas and influence upon one another - through more than a century of twists and turns. His lecture will present an update of his research to the time of the Trump presidency.

    Professor Khalil earned his Ph.D. from Berkeley and his B.A. from Temple University.
