This event has two locations! Come to University of the Arts from 10AM to 2PM, and/or join us at Temple University from 1 to 5PM!
WHAT: Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon is an international communal updating of Wikipedia content on subjects related to art and feminism. The University of the Arts and Temple University will host an all day event in Philly, where participants gather in one place to edit, add, and improve Wikipedia entries.
WHY: Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon improves coverage of women and the arts on Wikipedia and encourages female editorship. Wikimedia Foundation found that less than 10% of its contributors identify as female. While the reasons for the gender gap are debateable, the effect is not. Content is skewed by the lack of female participation, creating imbalance in this increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.
HOW: Register online here: http://goo.gl/forms/0F23xmpvvM. Arrive with your laptop or device, power cord, and ideas for entries. It’s that simple. We will provide tutorials for beginner Wikipedians, reference materials, and refreshments.
Last year, 1,500 participants at more than 75 events around the world created nearly 400 new pages and improved 500 articles. Join us to broaden that reach in 2016!
ACCESSIBILITY INFO: The UArts location is not fully accessible. Participants will need to be able to go up and down stairs. The Temple location is accessible by stairs or elevator with restrooms available on the same floor. Both locations require a photo ID to enter the building.
