Author Talk: Gabrielle David, Trailblazers: Black Women Who Helped Make America Great American Firsts/American Icons, Volume 1

    Temple University Libraries
    Gabrielle David

Join us for this talk with Gabrielle David, author of Trailblazers: Black Women Who Helped Make America Great | American Firsts/American Icons, a six-volume biographical book series.

Trailblazers savors the triumphs of the human spirit by honoring the Black women who blazed a trail and paved the way for the women who dared to pick up the torch to follow. Many are well-known, and others are the unsung, the forgotten, and the erased trailblazers of artists, activists, politicians, businesswomen, scientists, and educators.

Trailblazers will also be released as a six-part cinematic event over the course of 2021 and 2022. Each installment will feature powerful testimonials and one-on-one interviews with dynamic Black women in America who have helped shape this country. Trailblazers provides a historical timeline from slavery and the abolitionist and suffragist movements to the civil rights and feminist movements, to today's Black Lives Matter, Me Too, and Say Her Name movements. We will look at the lives and careers of over 400 brilliant African American women from the eighteenth century to the present who blazed uncharted paths in every conceivable way. These women changed the world with their activism and leadership, and their art, teaching, writing, and music.
