Bioethics in Social Work

In this course, social workers will learn the basic theoretical principles that undergird bioethics and hospital ethics decision-making. Social workers will become comfortable with general terms used in bioethics and public health and feel more confident when advocating for clients in hospital, clinical, and policy-level settings. Social workers also will get an introduction to urban bioethics, and understand how social workers can be better utilized in public health and bioethics spheres in urban settings in particular. Finally, social workers will learn about macro interventions relevant to ethical decision making.
