    Temple University Libraries
    Black Voters Mattered book cover

Join us at the Blockson Collection for a conversation and book signing with Reverend Dr. W. Wilson Goode, Sr., as he discusses his latest book, Black Voters Mattered: A Philadelphia Story (BookBaby, 2018).

Black Voters Mattered: A Philadelphia Story is a chronology of the history of Black political empowerment in the city of Philadelphia from the 1800s to the present. The book covers the roles of Octavius Catto, the Black Philadelphia Transit Company trolley drivers, the Home Rule Charter, Rev. Leon H. Sullivan, Cecil B. Moore, and the beginning of the Black Political Forum.
