Brain Development and Plasticity: Implications for Learning and Academic Achievement

    College of Liberal Arts

Please join us for a TILES Lecture/Neuroscience Seminar. This talk will be given by Dr. Allyson Mackey, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Mackey's talk is titled Brain Development and Plasticity: Implications for Learning and Academic Achievement. Dr. Mackey is interested in how changes in the brain give rise to changes in the mind, both as development unfolds, and in response to experience. Over the course of development, maturational changes restrict plasticity. Her lab studies the mechanisms by which environmental factors tip this balance to shorten or shift windows of peak plasticity.

    *Co-Hosted with CLA Neuroscience.
