Center for Anti-Racism Grand Opening

    Office of the Provost

    Temple University will host the grand opening of its Center for Anti-Racism on Nov. 14. The center convenes researchers and practitioners to leverage Temple’s expertise in educating the public about ways to understand, explain and solve problems of racial inequity and injustice. Construction of the center was supported by a $1.3 million state grant. 

    The grand opening features remarks by Temple officials and politicians including Temple President Jason Wingard; Timothy Welbeck, director, Center for Anti-Racism; former Temple President Richard M. Englert; Provost Greg Mandel; Valerie Harrison, vice president, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Molefi Kefe Asante, professor, Department of Africology and African American studies; Kimmika Williams Witherspoon, associate professor; School of Theater, Film and Media Arts; state Sen. Sharif Street and state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta.
