For ten years running, the Libraries and the Faculty Senate Committee on the Status of Faculty of Color have co-hosted this engaging series of panels on timely topics, featuring faculty from across the university. Join us for our first Chat in the Stacks of the spring semester featuring a panel discussion on the high stakes associated with voting rights.
While some argue that there should be more legislation aimed toward avoiding voter fraud, there’s a strong argument to be made that the legislation disenfranchises minority voters. Our panel will discuss the implications of the Supreme Court’s 2013 decision to roll back certain protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and its impact on our current political and voting landscape.
