Please consider attending Dr. Linnéa Österman’s presentation and discussion of her research on desistance from crime on April 2nd.
Dr. Österman takes an applied comparative perspective to understand pathways into and out of crime, building from her studies in multiple countries, including the UK and Nordic countries. Her theoretical and applied work on structural ladders could be very important for developing effective interventions and policies that support desistance and rehabilitation. In fact, she is one of the few scholars, along with Shadd Maruna, Beth Weaver, and Stephen Farrall, who directly draws from (and develops!) theory to publish research that has direct implications for reentry, corrections, & community corrections and restoration.
