CPCA Faculty Forum: Shana Goldin-Perschbacher, associate professor of music history
“Taking Stock of Identity Studies in Music”
Over the last thirty years, musical studies of identity and oppression have grown from marginal, if not unheard of, to nearly de riguer. Previously ignored voices have moved to the center. Activist intentions once frowned upon are now expected. In this talk musicologist Shana Goldin-Perschbacher traces the history of these changes, engaging stirring questions in scholarship that
paved the way, and assesses the state of the field, discussing the achievements, critiques, and problems these developments raise for current and future research and pedagogy.
This event is open to the public and part of AIR.
