CPH Dean's Seminar Series: Disentangling the Heterogeneity of Obesity—From Molecule to Society

    College of Public Health

    Dr. Penny Gordon-Larsen, Carla Smith Chamblee Distinguished Professor of Global Nutrition and Associate Dean for Research at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, will discuss the complexity of obesity from the perspective of etiological factors and cardiometabolic consequences, with a focus on biopsychosocial factors. Dr. Gordon-Larsen is one of the world’s leading authorities in this area of research and many of her examples relate to the development of obesity over the lifecycle, with attention to pathways linking environment and behavior to cardiometabolic risk.
