Standard approaches to citation practice often ask us to look to the important and well-cited authors in a field, but this can lead to an unconscious bias in the materials we choose to cite. Citation is power, and cultivating an inclusive citation practice helps to uplift marginalized voices and promote equitable knowledge sharing.
Join us as we discuss steps you can take to cultivate inclusive citation practices in your research, from how to be proactive in finding sources and research produced by scholars who are traditionally underrepresented and undercited to auditing your citations and using a citation diversity statement.
