Klein College of Media and Communication

Hosted by Dr. Clemencia Rodríguez and co-sponsored by Global Studies, the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Department of History, this event features screenings of “Batería” and “From Fresh Water” by independent Cuban filmmaker Damian Sainz. His lecture will explore an emerging generation of documentary filmmakers in contemporary Cuba, whose work reconstructing the past and exploring the present imagines a more just and equal country.

Damián has worked as director, editor and producer on documentary films in Cuba, Canada, Switzerland and Spain. He lives and works as an independent filmmaker in Havana, Cuba. He is currently on a campus tour organized by Americas Media Initiative.
