About "Stonebreakers":
“a thought-provoking full-length documentary directed by the talented Valerio Ciriaci (known for "If Only I Were That Warrior" and "Mr. Wonderland") in collaboration with the remarkable team at @AwenFilms. This documentary won multiple prizes including the “Imperdibili” Award and MYmovies.it Audience Award at the Festival dei Popoli 2022 (World Premiere) and was selected at important film festivals such as IFFBoston 2023 (USA Premiere), Brooklyn Film Festival 2023 (NYC Premiere) and Nastri d’Argento 2023.
Initially conceived as an exploration of the debate surrounding the removal of Christopher Columbus statues across the nation / a good portion filmed in Philadelphia), "Stonebreakers" has organically evolved into a profound chronicle of the ever-shifting cultural landscapes within the polarized United States of today. This film challenges us to confront the complexities of history, traditions, and collective identity.”
