Hosted by Dr. Edward Fink, these workshops will introduce students to the theory, methods and analysis procedures that constitute social and communication networks. Applications of network studies, and network analysis tools to interpersonal, political, organizational, intercultural, international, and health communication, as well as the impact of emerging technologies on social networks will be provided.
Dr. Barnett is a distinguished professor in the Department of Communication at the University of California, Davis. He has served as chair of the Communication and Technology division of the International Communication Association and president of the International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA). He has authored more than 100 articles on social and communication networks, how they change over time as a function of perturbations to the system in which they are embedded. He studies international networks emphasizing telecommunications and its role in the process of globalization. In 2012, he was the recipient of the Aubrey Fisher Mentorship Award from the International Communication Association.
