Dr. Harris will be examining the #MeToo movement from its founding 10-years ago by Tarana Burke, an African-American activist working to reach sexual assault survivors in disadvantaged communities, through today. Dr. Harris is the author of five books. Her most recent is Race and Policing with Rebecca Rissman. It examines recent incidents of minorities being mistreated or dying in police custody, delving into the historical institutions and laws that underpin today’s system and exploring what police departments and the communities they serve are doing to improve communication and relationships.
She also co-authored Hidden Human Computers: The Black Women of NASA, and Black Lives Matter with Sue Bradford Edwards, (Essential Library), authored Black Feminist Politics from Kennedy to Clinton/Obama (Palgrave Macmillan), and published an edited volume with Bruce Baum, Racially Writing the Republic: Racists, Race Rebels, and Transformations of American Identity (Duke University Press).
