Electronics Faire: HTML Journal with Paloma Kop
Create your own little corner of the internet to share your thoughts with the world. Build a web presence that no billionaires can take away from you. In an age where most websites are both boring to look at, and unnecessarily complex under the hood, we’ll be reclaiming the fun and simplicity of the early web. Using the power of HTML and CSS, we will create simple, personalized webpages from scratch using the "HTML Journal" format (https://journal.miso.town/). Writing HTML and CSS by hand is simple enough to get started with even for first-time coders, and as a way to build websites today, it's often overlooked. Once you start, the knowledge you gain quickly becomes a powerful and versatile tool set.
All participants MUST bring a laptop with a web browser installed. To get our pages online quickly, we'll be using the Neocities platform (https://neocities.org/), which offers both hosting, and a code editor in the browser. Participants with coding experience are welcome to use their preferred tools.
