Founder Story: The patented technology changing our food industry

Office of the Vice President for Research

Join us as we hear from accomplished women entrepreneurs.  This talk will be lead by Denise L. Devine, Founder, CEO & President of Nutripharm, Inc.

Here's her story . . . Denise Devine was a busy professional and a working parent. She was frustrated by wanting to feed her young children natural and healthy products that were also convenient to pack in the lunchbox. She found none! Convinced that big food companies simply were not going to genuinely address her needs she set out to try to make a difference.

After researching every aspect of early childhood nutrition and consulting experts in the field, Denise set out with specific goals and requirements for developing new products to address the unmet needs of parents and their young children. She enlisted the help of food scientists at The International Food Network located in Cornell's Technology Park. After doggedly pursuing Denise's insistence on incorporating whole grains in a drinkable format that would look and taste similar to juice, a technological breakthrough occurred in the development process. A new technology was created and patents were issued.

Nutripharm was founded. The limits of the technology were tested and versatility of the platform was validated. The company has developed products that meet the needs of many different consumer demographics ranging from very  young children to older adults.

Ms. Devine is a guest author and often quoted in trade and consumer publications. Ms. Devine was honored by the Governor of Pennsylvania in 1999 with the “Best 50 Business Women in Pennsylvania” Award and was awarded the Year 2000 Villanova Alumni Gold.
