Tze C Chiam, Ph.D.
Senior Director of Health Systems Analytics and Modeling, Connecticut Children’s
Assistant Professor, UConn School of Medicine
In his current position, Dr. Chaim has developed and is currently leading the execution of the analytics 5‐year strategy for Connecticut Children’s to advance its analytics maturity journey towards predictive and prescriptive analytics while strengthening current analytics services. He also provides oversight to several analytics teams that support the organization in key functional areas such as quality and patient safety, operations, productivity, growth, research and DE&I. Tze also leads and participates in research studies that require advance analytics methods such as machine learning and computer simulation.
In his prior role, he was the Director of Health Systems Optimization at ChristianaCare where he led a team of data scientists, industrial and human factors engineers applying multi‐method approaches for optimizing various aspects of the health system. Some of the work he led include predicting heart failure outcomes, optimizing patient flow, optimizing staffing to ensure quality care while minimizing cost, predicting impact of COVID on the health system in order to inform operational decisions from preparation for recovery from the pandemic.
Prior to ChristianaCare, Tze was the Manager of Business Intelligence and Research at UMass Memorial Healthcare. In this role, he conceptualized and developed the department, introducing advance analytics and data visualization approaches to the organization in order to provide deeper insights for major decision‐making.
