reForm Project invites you to a screening of the short film "Goodbye to City Schools" (2013, 30 min), followed by a discussion with the director, Dr. Amy Oppong Yeboah. "Goodbye to City Schools" focuses on the experiences of staff, students, families, and community members of Germantown, Bok, and University City High Schools, and Fairhill Elementary School. This film reveals stories on the impact of the closing of 24 public schools in the City of Philadelphia. The interviews, observations, and photos present a deep narratice that extends beyond the words "school closing."
This event is part of programming for reForm, a project by Pepón Osorio which responds to the 2013 budget-related closure of Fairhill School in North Philadelphia. reForm was created in collaboration with former Fairhill students, families, and teachers, and Temple Contemporary.
Major support for reForm has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, with additional support from the Surdna Foundation.
