This flexible certificate program provides supervisors, managers, directors and emerging leaders with an opportunity to learn and practice skills in developing successful proposals to obtain external funding. The Grant Writing Certificate Program will cover the basics of grant seeking and writing, enabling anyone with an interest in the topic to get started on the grant writing process. 

Assignments: Participants will be asked to complete exercises that will assist in meeting the learning outcomes. Participants will be encouraged to complete a grant application in response to either a grantor’s Request for Proposal or their published application guidelines for a proposal. Participants will be given feedback on their proposal.

Learner Outcomes

 After completing the modules, participants will be familiar with the steps of the grant writing process and have basic knowledge about the types of grants available and how to look for them. This certificate program is beneficial for anyone who is interested in grant writing but is not sure how to get started. It will also help experienced academic researchers, non-profit organizations and freelance writers to write grants more confidently and improve their grant-writing game.

Certificate Requirements:  To earn the certificate, participants must attend and complete the required assignments for all six modules. All participants will be encouraged to complete a grant application in response to either a grantor’s Request for Proposal or their published application guidelines for a proposal.  Participants who elect to submit a proposal will be given feedback.
