Scholarly journals are increasingly requiring visual abstracts to supplement published articles. These infographics can also be used to promote your research on social media, at conferences, and more. Attendees at this workshop will learn the components of a visual abstract, as well as benefits and drawbacks. We will go over the process to create your own visual abstract and tools to use, focusing on the free resource Canva. We will cover basic recommendations in graphic design so that your visual abstract is appealing. This is an installment in the Skills in September series, where we hope to help build your professional skills in publishing and presenting!
It is recommended that you sign up for a free Canva account prior to this workshop, if you wish to follow along during the presentation.
