Hispanic Heritage Month: Amor de Lejos: A Diasporican Love Letter

Please join us for a lecture and reception with artist Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz.

There comes a time in a person's life when anger, frustration, sorrow, and spite threaten to consume its host. In this fragile space between, and only when you're ready to receive it, something softens. The membrane of pride is punctured and something new emerges - transcendence. This is my love letter to Puerto Rico.

Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz is an artist who addresses bias trauma, and healing. Exhibitions include the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Museum of Arts and Design, Garage Museum Moscow, Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico; and the Manifesta and Performa biennials. Media coverage, includes Art in America, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. MFA from Rutgers University and currently Full Professor at George Mason University.
