Katie Kitamura was born and raised in California. She received her BA from Princeton University and her PhD in American literature from the London Consortium. She is the author of three novels, The Longshot, Gone to the Forest, and A Separation. A Separation was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and was named a best book of the year by over a dozen publications.
It will be translated into fifteen languages, including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Greek, Slovak, Chinese, and Russian. Twice a finalist for the New York Public Library’s Young Lions Fiction Award and a recipient of a Lannan Foundation Residency Fellowship, Kitamura has written for publications including The New York Times Book Review, The Guardian, Granta, BOMB, Triple Canopy, and Frieze.
