Klein GO Information Session: Children's Media in Los Angeles

Klein College of Media and Communication

    Klein EDGE | Global Opportunities

Why study the children's media industry?

Studies show children spend over eight hours daily with media, including television, video games, apps, movies and music. This program explores the companies creating this content from development through production, from casting through marketing. The course also considers the effect of this content on children's social development, cognitive learning, and creativity.

How does the media industry balance its desire to entertain and educate children with its need for revenue?

This program is led by Professor Sherri Hope Culver, whose work on children's media and media literacy is world-renowned. Students will closely examine the industry by examining articles and scholarship on the topic and through on-site experiences with the executives deciding the future of children's media.

Applications for the Summer 2025 session will open on November 1st, 2024, and will be due on February 15th, 2025!
