The goal of the event is three-fold: 1) Expose CLA students to employers and CLA students who have successfully completed internships to help motivate, inspire and educate them on the value of completing internships; 2) To showcase and highlight some of the internship experiences and successes to demonstrate value of internship experiences and stipend fund; and 3) Provide an opportunity for leaders of CLA’s PDSA (Professional Development Student Association) to help curate questions and facilitate the discussion portion of the event, thereby shining some light on this growing and mission relevant student association.
We hope this format will enable participants to share their insights and perspectives in order to benefit our student audience while engaging BoV members and alumni guests. In addition, this event also serves as a precursor to CLA’s inaugural internship fair which will be take place on Thursday, October 25, helping us build momentum for the fair. Since we will be recruiting students from our professional development courses to the BoV event, the event will also serve as internship fair preparation for those students who attend. To date over 8 students stipend recipients, representing a range of CLA majors have agreed to participate in the event and I am working with them to invite their supervisors, etc.
