Mapping Cultural Heritage and Traditions: Leveraging Digital Tools to Build Timelines

    Temple University Libraries
    genealogy

This workshop introduces participants to the complexities of tracing genealogies using digital tools and platforms like Timeline JS. While digital tools allow us to trace historical developments through tracing events, people, or artifacts through specific times and locations, this workshop aims to introduce participants to the complexities involved in tracing timelines of cultures and the evolution of ideas/traditions using digital tools. Drawing from a case study of tracing genealogies of communication scholarship, participants will get to think through the complexities involved in tracing the evolution of ideas and the creative ways these challenges and complexities can be engaged using digital platforms and tools.
