Praised by Tim Page of the Washington Post for "lovely solo turns from the cello", Amy Frost Baumgarten's career has encompassed orchestral and chamber music, solo performances, and teaching. She serves on the faculty of George Mason University and Eastern Music Festival, where she has performed in numerous highly acclaimed chamber recitals broadcast by National Public Radio.
Amy has played with chamber ensembles throughout the United States including the conductor-less New Century Chamber Orchestra in San Francisco; Colorado Chamber Players; and the Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra. Previously she was principal cellist for several orchestras on both coasts, and taught at Hartt School of Music and Wesleyan University. While a graduate student at Yale School of Music she performed on the Grammy nominated Yale Cellos Delos albums. Amy also attended the New School of Music and the University of Pennsylvania. She studied with Burton Kaplan, Aldo Parisot, Orlando Cole, Winifred Martindale, and Betty Hendren.
