Minority Voices Project: Hearing the Experiences of Minority Students on Campus

    College of Public Health

In the field of public health, we work to ensure equity and justice for all people, which includes combating systems of oppression that impact health and contribute to health disparities. Many in the field, however, may be unaware of how racism and micro-aggressions impact people of color. This seminar will introduce the audience to the new student organization, Minority Voices Project, and will provide a platform for minority students to share their experiences in the classroom, in the residence halls, and around campus. Terms related to cultural sensitivity and diversity will be defined, and participants will learn skills needed to be culturally affirming to their peers as well as in their professional work.
