Professor Rebecca “Becca” Smith, Assistant Professor of Practice in the Marketing Department, will lead a live demo course focused on the evolving landscape of digital advertising and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping marketing strategy.

As digital and interactive technologies become increasingly embedded in consumer and business behavior, marketers must navigate rapid shifts driven by generative AI, automation, privacy regulation and platform changes. This session introduces key digital advertising concepts while exploring how AI—tools like ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and marketing automation platforms—are actively disrupting campaign planning, personalization, content creation and analytics.

Professor Smith will also address strategic implications of AI adoption, including ethical considerations, brand safety and the need for human oversight in an age of algorithmic influence.

About the Instructor

Becca is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Marketing Department at the Fox School of Business, where she has developed and taught graduate-level courses on Digital Marketing, Digital Innovation and Marketing Strategy since 2014.

She also serves as Senior Vice President of Marketing & Strategy at Electric Kite, where she leads digital strategy for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to early-stage startups and mission-driven nonprofits.
