Temple University Rome is very pleased to present Exquisite Corpse, a group exhibition of Henry Rosenberg, 1st year MFA student, and Heather Roach and Shannon Waring, recipients in May 2023 of their BFA in Visual Arts.

Henry Rosenberg's (MFA ’24) studio practice is informed by his background in Art History and Visual Culture. Rosenberg’s work involves connecting personal and public memories, and using manufactured fragments of stories, or incomplete narratives to respond to, and make observations about, current events with culture and history in mind.

Heather Roach (Painting and Drawing; BFA ‘23) investigates the themes of routine and memory exemplified in places and people. Following a period of study in Japan, her work changed, as it did again during her two stays in Rome – Fall 2021-Spring 2022, and again in Spring 2023. In certain cases folded creases in her drawings recall the experience of packing up and moving from place to place. 

Shannon Waring (Printmaking; BFA ‘23) focuses on the human body, particularly the psychology of anatomical functions and their relationship to body horror. The artist explores the line between finding comfort in one’s body and a level of bodily awareness that can create anxiety and terror. Working with a variety of carnal imagery, such as meat and carcasses, Shannon explores visceral responses to the body. Anatomy is distended and distorted, focusing on emotional and psychological reactions to the body.
