Come listen to Lisa Carbone of Rutgers University give her lecture: A Lie group analog for the Monster Lie algebra.
In this presentation Carbone will address: The Monster Lie algebra mm, which admits an action of the Monster finite simple group MM, was constructed by Borcherds as part of his program to solve the Conway-Norton conjecture about the representation theory of MM . We associate the analog of a Lie group G(m)G(m) to the Monster Lie algebra mm. We give generators for large free subgroups and we describe relations in G(m)G(m).
