Interested in studying in Jamaica this summer? It's more than beach and sun. In this program, you'll explore the REAL Jamaica through community-service learning and educational tourism, examining such questions as: Why the poverty? What's with gender and class? Is it race, color or ... what? What makes us '"American" (or not)?
Students enroll in one 3-credit Service Learning course (new this year!) and engage in a service/community-based project with a local partner organization based on your interests/major and the needs and interests of the local community. Students enroll one of the following options among the three cross-listed courses, with all participants earning three credits and engaging in the course as a cohesive group:
- Sociology 2130: Selected Topics in Sociology
- Social Work 4000: Special Topics in Social Work
- Education 2224: Service Learning
