Film Screening: The Sara Spencer Washington Story

    Join us at the Blockson Collection for a film screening of The Sara Spencer Washington Story, a documentary directed, written, and produced by Royston Scott.

    Film synopsis:

    Interviews recall the life of a Black woman who became a phenomenal success selling her line of hair products door-to-door in 1920s Atlantic City, New Jersey. A business that lasted through The Great Depression and became a million dollar empire. It gave tens of thousands of Black women the opportunity to become self-sufficient. She called the business Apex, and they called her Madame Sara Spencer Washington.

    Registration requested.
