Dinner from Tierra Columbian at 5:30 pm, Story Slam begins at 6:00 pm.
This year’s theme will be RESILIENCY. The challenges in medicine can be overwhelming these days. We in medicine have the enormous privilege of caring for people at the most critical moments of their lives, but we must also care for own mental and physical health. I’m looking for stories that reflect our struggles and successes, that remind us why we entered the profession, what we love about it, what makes it so hard and also at its best so rewarding and satisfying. While the theme is resiliency, we welcome stories on any subject.
The only rule is that storytellers get five minutes, with a modest grace period, to share a story. This requires you to pare your story down to its essence – what happened, and why it affected you so. This story slam is a celebration, not a competition. I am happy to help with preparation and answer any other questions.
