Join us February 21 for HEART, a evening of food, drink and Broadway Musical Cabaret at the Temple Performing Arts Center, celebrating the life of Temple Alumna Joy Valderrama Abbott (EDU '52) and featuring the music of George Abbott's Broadway.
Known as "Mr. Broadway", George Abbott is credited with establishing the book musical as an art form! He had a hand in producing, directing and writing over 100 Broadway shows making his contributions some of the most important in American musical theatre history, including for classics like THE PAJAMA GAME, PAL JOEY, DAMN YANKEES, FIORELLO and so many more.
- The evening's program will start at 6:00 pm with hors d'oeuvres and drinks,
- followed by an hour-length program from 7:00 - 8:00 pm of Abbott musical favorites featuring Alumnus and Broadway Actor Sean Thompson (TFM '09, SUNSET BOULEVARD) and Alum Rita Castagna ('19, winner of American Pops Orchestra’s NextGen competition) along with duo Piano accompaniment from Broadway conductor and orchestrator/Temple Professor Steven Gross (head of the Abbott MFA in Musical Theater Collaboration), and Patrick Tice-Carroll (recent graduate of the Abbott MFA MT Collaboration program),
- At 8:00 pm, after the show, we welcome you to join us for a reception with drinks and dessert.
