On September 1, 2021, the Temple Ambler Campus, Ambler Arboretum, Temple Ambler Field Station and surrounding communities were forever changed by the tornado spawned from the remnants of Hurricane Ida.
On Thursday, September 1, 2022, experience the healing power of nature — even as nature is continuing to heal — by joining Ambler Arboretum Director Kathleen Salisbury and certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide Ryan Benz for a guided Nature & Forest Therapy Experience.
Benz will guide the community on a Nature & Forest Therapy Experience, also known as Forest Bathing, or shinrin-yoku in Japan, a research-based mindfulness practice of spending time in nature for the purpose of enhancing health, wellness, and happiness. Through this experience, you'll awaken the senses to realize the healing powers of nature, even while nature is still healing.
The walk will be followed by an inspirational talk given by Benz, where he'll share his experience of thru-hiking the entire Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in a fun, engaging, and inspiring way.
Light refreshments will be provided.
What to bring for the Nature & Forest Therapy experience:
- An open mind.
- Hydration.
- Appropriate clothes for the weather, for example, a rain jacket if rain is in the forecast.
- Comfortable and appropriate footwear.
- Something to sit on in the event you are not comfortable sitting on the ground, whether that’s a small pad, blanket, or towel.
