This proseminar will focus on career pathways outside of academia and feature three accomplished professionals who have successfully navigated transitions into impactful roles in the field of criminal justice. Dr. Caterina Roman, who has nearly two decades with the Urban Institute in Washington, DC, will co-facilitate the discussion and share her non-academic journey with us. Dr. Ajima Olaghere
Dr. Olaghere is a criminologist and UX Researcher in high tech. She specializes in strategic UX and customer-centered, mixed-method research to problem-solve and unearth unique insights. Her work emphasizes synthesis and pattern-finding to inform systems and practices for a better world. She received her PhD in Criminology, Law & Society at George Mason University.
Dr. Jaime S. Henderson
Dr. Henderson serves as the Director of Data Science and Research at the Innocence Project. She leads efforts to deepen understanding of wrongful convictions and fosters an ethical and responsible data culture within the organization. Before joining the Innocence Project, she spent over a decade leading data-driven criminal legal system transformation efforts in Philadelphia. She earned her PhD in Criminal Justice at Temple University.
Dr. Nicole Johnson
Dr. Johnson is a Research Criminologist at RTI International, where she applies quantitative methods to study community violence, policing, and gun violence. She is a lead analyst for the NIJ-sponsored Death in Custody Reporting Act study and works on Project CLEARS to enhance law enforcement’s capacity to solve shooting cases. Dr. Johnson earned her PhD in Criminal Justice at Temple University.
